First XC Championship and First TOP 10
I'm done.
L-I-T-E-R-A-L-L-Y
And it feel sooo good.
---
My friend from ski-o national team said he's gonna run the Czech XC Championship 50K. Are you interested? Sure I was!
So I signed up. I needed to go to a sport doctor for a test o be allowed to start there. When I called to the sport doctor 2weeks before the championship, he was fullbooked and there was no option to do the test. But I got a date by another doctor. I passed the test and there was nothing to stop me from my first XC Chmpionship. Or?
I was supposed to sleep over in Hradec Kralové at my friend's flat. She wasn't staying there that night. I got the apartment keys and...
...forgot them home! So it is when you have more winter jackets and decide to take another one in the morning. Keys stayed in the pocket of the other jacket... Fortunately orienteering are good friends and it wasn't a problem to sleep on the floor of some gym where other 500 orienteers slept that night. Well, I got the worst possible. Teenagers had fun untill late night and kept quite noice (I sound so old!). Tired and without any racing mood I jumped in Petr's car. I was looking forward to a nice sunny weather. Well, I haven't seen much sun but otherwise it was a nice weather. At least for people. Not for skis. Me and Petr consider waxing with powder or other waxing vychytávky as uncessary luxoury. Light flour wax must be good enough. We are no princesses.
So stupid we were! I haven't skied this long distance in entire season due to the knee injury. And today's snow was super slow and in the need of really good ski waxer service.
It was so cool to start at the start of the race together with best Czech XC skiing girls. Including those who were at Olympic just a month ago. It was worth to run the race already bcs of this feeling.
Start! I had no idea how fast should I run. My plan was to finish the race. Second plan was to be as exhausted as possible in the finnish. I succeeded both.
I got my first krizičku already after cca 6km. How shall I be able to run another 24km?!!! I don't know how I managed it but I did. And I wasn't last! And I had all three loops with pretty equal time! And I really left there everything as I didn't let some guy to sprint over me in the last uphill having his kids cheering for him! So many positive things to find! :P
The worse skis (or ski wax) I had, the better poles I used! I was extremaly happy to have the SWIX 3.0 TRIAC POLES which are the lightest and best poles in the world! MY arms were so done in the finnish that I can't imagine to make it with any heavier poles.
People kept asking me why I do this. Why I wanna run 30km race. I didn't know why. I hoped I will find out the answer during the race or after it. Now I know it. I was missing that feeling of being totally done. I didn't have lucky races during this season. I've never went on the border of my power. I owed this feeling to my body. Now I'm satisfied. Now I can close this season.
And one more great thing: After race like this it's such a pleasure to fuel my body with the most crazy food combination! No regrets!
Thanks Peter for challenging me to run this crazy race! Let's do it again!!
