Nové Město Training Camp

Three training days in the Czech most famous biathlon arena

Day 1 - afternoon

I see some snow. Good. What is this board saying? Due to a very bad weather all ski tracks are closed since January 9. What’s today‘s date? January 9.

I enter ski tracks and hope my pupy eyes and national team clothes will persuade local staff to let me do my skiing training.

Happy I did take with me my most destroyed skis. All skis above the tunnel are icy with big cracks – not the best place for training. All tracks under tunnel are brown and contain almost anything you can image (rocks, leaves, mud, twigs, needles and some really weird looking artificial things hard to specify).

That's What People Call "Ski Track"

Some staff next to the ski track. They look at me. They say something. Shit. I have two intervals left. Excuse me, what? „To jsou sračky, co (=what a shits, right)“ one of them says to me. Uuhh yeah. But better than nothing. No word about me not being allowed to finish my training.

Hard pass done.

Day 2 – morning

Raining. Tak to je hnus. Do I really have to train in weather like this in January?!! It must have been love to skiing…

Počasí na Přání

If yesterday’s track looked bad and brown, I don’t know how to call today track. Maybe terrible and black. There is more dirtyness than snow left. I can’t ski thourgh couple of places where it was still possible to ski yesterday.

I didn’t dare to take a photo of this „ski track“…

Mental fight but I’ve managed to do the training as aim.

When my training was over it stopped to rain.

And it started to

Day 2 – afternoon

Let it snow.

Let it snow.

Let it snow.

Within Few Hours the Countryside Changed Completly

Czech Youth team for Winter Universiade had a training in arena with Martin Koukal. I was happy I was invited to join them. I think this has been one of the most effective technique training I’ve ever experience. Thanks so much, Martin, olympic medalist.

Day 3 – morning

Beautiful winter!

Tomu Říkám Zima

Martin Koukal is still coaching at arena. I take advantage of it and join his svěřence as my warm-up training part. After that I do my last hard training here.

With Martin Koukal - Atomic vs. Sporten, Agreed on Swix

I’m really done, but I beleive I zúročím these trainings.

Two days to year’s first ski-o championship! Saturday long distances championship, Sunday relay championship and Czech middle distance cup (which is qualification for World University Championship). Healthy, excited, motivated and ambitions! Jinými slovy ready to race!

Last but not least, I wanna say huge thank you to the my accomodation owners. It is super beautiful there, cheap, near to ski arena and owners are the most lovely ones. Still something missing? Apple strudel! Yes, they baked it for me already for the second time in a row. That’s what I call heaven!!!!

Home Made Apple Strudel Just for Me

Accomodation: Jiříkovice – U Kapličky. Let me know if you want their contact.
