First Medal from Czech Championship in This seasoon
Weekend January 20-21 brought us to Czech-German borders. Finally, I was about to race in Czech. I didn't take part in Czech ski-o weekend in December as I was sick. Last weekend, we were supposed to have another races but they got cancelled due to lack of snow. So I was really looking forward to kick off the Czech ski-o season. Until...
...Two days before first race a got diapherra. I couldn't eat anything whole Thursday and Friday. No surprise I felt week and dehydrated. I couldn'timagine to race in upcoming days. But it was World student Qualification races! I had to take part in.
So I did. I didn't even go for any skiing session on Friday evening as I felt too weak. On Saturday morning, I managed to eat at least some old dry pastry. A perfect nálož before a race! ;) It was sprint with the status of Czech Championship and World ranking event. I decided to go full speed in the beginning and hopefully not to die before the finnish. It's short, it's sprint right? Well, I died. It was "a bit" longer sprint than it is supposed to be. Otherwise, really nice ski-o course. Thumb up to organizers! I was really 100% lenochod in the final hill to the finnish but still enough to secure 4th place and win silver medal between students!
In the afternoon, we moved just behind Czech borders to Germany. Middle distance. I felt surprisingly better than in the morning (maybe bcs I managed to eat a bit between races). If the monrning race was a bit longer, this middle distance was far too long. I thought I did quite good but was really shocked with place 7th in the finnish. My worst result in senior class at Czech race! Nenaděláš...
Sunday long distance day. Same place as middle. I felt really weak and maybe a bit sick. 15minutes before my race start I still wasn't decided whether I'm gonna run or not. I decided to start and take it easier. I could always skip the race.
I made a huge mistakes till 2nd control. But I continued and took it like a good endurance training. I got excited when I caught my national team colleage Katka Neumannova who started in front of me. I got motivated and pushed a bit more in last 2-3kms. My gap to the winner was big but it was nice to see that when I decided to race a bit at the end my split times jumped to the top split times. Task now: keep kealthy and keep training! European champ is about to come. And I'm gonna rock also at student world champ in Estonia in late February! QUALIFIED :)
