NUTS Pallas - My ”First” Ultrarun

Got registered. Got in shape. Got perfect shoes. Got sick.

I´m ready to compete. My health is not.

10 days to go I did a long faster run which gave me a lot of self-confidence. I felt ready. Both physically and mentally. Two days later I woke up with a sore throat. It is never fun to get a sore throat but I knew few days of resting will not have any bigger effect on my shape. After few days I felt healthy and went for an easy jog. But it didn´t feel good. Actually, it felt really bad. I had to persuade myself to move forward. Something was wrong.

They day after I woke up feeling really miserable. I realized the virus or something is still making me a company. And it stayed by me till Friday – dne D. Despite I felt better on Friday I wasn`t that stupid to compete. But enough stupid to follow to Ylläs and watch all races.

It was cool but sad to see a Czech flag hanging. I was the only registred Czech runner for 30K race. So the flag was kinda hanging for me. Sad face.

A day later, it was time for the 55K. Time for Jyri and Santeri to show their best.

Just before the start of 55K

It was really a great experience! It was sooo motivating to watch and cheer for runners at all races (30K, 55K and 134K). Huge congrats to all runners who were not afraid and took part in any of these courses. Biggest congrats to Jyri who finished 9 and Santeri who ranked 29! You guys rocked!!!

I admit I envied runners they could dance through the real Lapland fell, fight against their pain and enjoy that feeling of crossing the finish line totally exhausted but happy.

The only thing I could do is to register for the next year´s round. So I did. I will come healthy and in the best shape ever! Shoes will be the same 😉
