Individual TOP20 at JWSOC

My first year in junior class. The championship in tricky Norway. Hard to have any expectations. But I hoped to make a good performance and I would be delighted to make it between best twenty.

First race – long distance. Organizers took us to the start o the top of the local fjell. Luckily by lift J The views were awesome and the countryside promised a proper ski-o race. I didn’t manage to avaid mistakes and I did some bad route choices. 22nd position in the finish.

Next day it was time for sprint. I had quite big exestations as I won a bronze medal at this distance last year at EYSOC. Unfortunately, I was too ambitious, did’t manage to focus properly and made very bad performance. 32nd…

Last individual race was a middle distance with a mass start. My very first mass start. Surprisingly, it went very well from the beggining. I apperead at the same group of skiers as our Czech best junior skier, Zuzka Kubátová. I put all power to manage to keep up with her. This kind of difficut terrain played for me, because all those better ski-o girls could go as fast as they could due to the difficult orienteering terrain. So I managed to hang behind Zuzka. She and other girls who appear around us at the end of the race made a mistake to the prelast control. I‘m still surprised how I managed to get the self confidence and stop following all the girls and go alone, but right. Zuzka and other girls realized their mistake, but I was fast enough to come to the finish jsut ahead of them. This performance resulted in my 18th place and put a bright smile on my face. But I can honestly say that this good result was especially thank to Zuzka who made the orienteering job through almost whole race.

Last day belonged to the relay. Our team finished at 6th place. My performance was not so great, but I was very glad to be at the big podium after one year again J
